# Build an app with Airtable

> Create apps that update Airtable in real time, or turn your Airtable data into custom portals, directories, and dashboards.

## How it works

Turn your Airtable bases into fully functional Zite apps that your team, clients, or users can access — without paying for additional Airtable seats.

Once connected, Zite reads and writes Airtable data in real time, keeping everything automatically in sync. By connecting Zite to Airtable, you can:

* Create secure portals and internal tools without requiring Airtable seats for every user
* Add, edit, and update Airtable records directly from your Zite app, with changes synced instantly
* Display your data using custom views (directories, galleries, dashboards, and charts)
* Add search, filtering, and sorting so users can quickly find the information they need

## How to create apps that sync with Airtable

    Then, sign in to your Airtable account.
