# Build an app that collects data with Fillout

> Create an app that collects data, bookings, automates workflows, and more with Fillout.

## How it works

Collect user data from your app with Fillout’s advanced form builder. This lets you collect e-signatures, generate PDFs, manage bookings, and automate workflows. By connecting Fillout, you can:

* Embed branded forms, surveys, and quizzes directly inside your app
* Insert a custom booking calendar where users can schedule calls directly
* Collect e-signatures, file uploads, videos, payments, and more
* Automate email notifications, Slack messages, and other workflows for every submission
* Generate filled PDFs using respondents’ answers automatically

## How to add a Fillout form to your app

    Click the `plug icon` <Icon icon="plug" /> at the bottom left and choose `Fillout`. Then, select the form you want to use in the dropdown menu.

    In the chat box, request for your Zite app or for a specific element to be connected with Fillout. You can do this for new and existing apps.

  <Step title="Choose embed type">
    Zite automatically chooses a **Default** embed type depending on the look and intended function of your app. To change this, click `Default`.

    In the chat box, indicate where you want your Fillout form to show up on your Zite app.

  <Step title="Deploy and share">
    Complete the Fillout form in your app to ensure everything's working properly.

    That's it! Form submissions collected from your Zite embed will be recorded in the [results page](https://www.fillout.com/help/view-responses) of your Fillout form.

    Click `Publish` in the upper right corner and [**share**](/help/platform/access/share-to-web) your app.

    [Modify the theme](/help/platform/how-to-build/design) or [style specific elements](/help/platform/basics/selective-edits) in your app to personalize it or match it with your brand.
