# Create apps that notify with Slack

> Send automated Slack notifications to your team or partners with specific actions performed on your Zite app.

## How it works

Notify your team on Slack when key actions happen in your Zite app (e.g., new signups, lead status updates, approvals). Alerts are sent in real time. By connecting Slack, you can:

* Send messages to Slack channels when updates or custom events occur in your app
* Use rich text formatting to highlight important updates and notifications
* Build multi-step workflows that connect Slack with integrations like Gmail, Intercom, and Excel

## How to automate notifications

    In the chat box, request your app to be integrated with Slack or click the `plug icon` <Icon icon="plug" />.

    Then, sign in to your Slack account

    Tell Zite how you want to use Slack in your app. In our example, we'll send a notification to the team every time a new room is booked. Make sure to specify the channel in your request.
