# Integrate with Snowflake

> Explore connecting Snowflake data to Zite for warehouse lookups, dashboards, and controlled updates.

## How it works

[Snowflake](https://www.snowflake.com) is a cloud warehouse for business data. The Zite connection is **coming soon**, and the production picker currently directs customers to **Contact sales**. When enabled, apps use a shared Snowflake connection rather than each visitor’s Snowflake account.

With this integration, you can:

* Look up rows in approved databases
* Show business metrics in dashboards
* Find the tables and columns available to the connection
* Update rows when write access has been explicitly granted

## How to integrate Snowflake into your app

**1. Connect to Snowflake**

Open **Integrations**, find **Snowflake**, and choose **Contact sales** to discuss availability. If access has been enabled, work with your Snowflake administrator to choose the databases, warehouse, and access level. Follow the setup instructions provided for your account and test the connection.

**2. Describe your use case**

Tell Zite which business information the app should show or change. For example, “Show monthly sales totals from our reporting database, with filters for region and account owner.”

**3. Test and publish**

Once connected, compare a few results with the same data in Snowflake. If writes are enabled, test a sample update and confirm who is allowed to make it.

Click **Publish** in the upper right corner when the workflow works as expected.

## Common use cases

With Snowflake, you can create apps like:

* **Sales Dashboards:** Show approved sales metrics.
* **Operations Reports:** Give teams a filtered view of warehouse data.
* **Customer Lookups:** Find relevant customer records.
* **Controlled Update Tools:** Let authorized staff update selected rows.

## Important notes

* **Availability:** The connection is gated and is not generally available as a self-service setup. Confirm access with Zite before planning a rollout.
* **Administrator setup:** Your Snowflake administrator must grant the connection access to the required databases and warehouse.
* **Read or write:** Start with read-only access for dashboards. Write access can allow changes to real warehouse data.
* **Shared access:** The app uses the connection’s permissions, not each visitor’s Snowflake permissions. Define and test app roles separately.
* **Warehouse costs:** Reading warehouse data can use Snowflake compute credits. Ask Zite to reuse results where practical rather than repeatedly fetching the same information.
* **Missing data:** If a table or reporting view is unavailable, ask your administrator to check the connection’s access.
