Overview

Use Attachment fields to store files on database records. Per-file upload size follows your organization’s subscription plan, so larger plans can attach larger files. Files uploaded from inside a Zite app follow those same per-file limits. Zite apps support very large files. This page covers database attachment uploads and app uploads to those fields. It does not apply to CSV and Excel table imports. When a form saves a file to a Zite database, Zite copies that file into the database. The copy counts once as a database attachment. The copy can be up to 5 GB, even if your plan’s per-file limit is lower. Files that stay only on a form, and are not saved to the database, do not count towards storage.

Upload attachments

Open your database in grid view, then click an Attachment cell to open the upload modal. Add files from your device, ingest a file from a URL, or import records that include attachment fields. The same per-file size limit and accepted file types apply to direct uploads, URL ingest, attachment import, and files uploaded from inside an app.

Per-file upload limits

Each attachment is limited by your organization’s plan. These are per-file ceilings, not a combined cap for every file on a record. If a file is too large, Zite shows File is larger than your [plan] plan limit. Upgrade or contact support@zite.com to increase limits. The file is not saved. A file copied into the database when a form saves to it can still be up to 5 GB, even if that is above your plan’s per-file limit.
Previously, an oversized file could save as a cut-off copy with no warning. It looked fine in lists but would not open. Oversized uploads now fail with a clear message instead.
CSV and Excel table imports use a separate import path of about 50 MB. That limit is not the attachment upload limit.

Total attachment storage

Your plan also sets how much attachment storage your organization can use in total, across all databases. This is separate from the per-file upload size. If you reach the total storage limit, free up files or upgrade your plan before adding more attachments.
Attachment files from deleted records may remain accessible via their direct link for up to 2 days before being permanently removed.

Accepted file types

Attachment fields accept a broad set of common file types. The file picker may describe this as supporting all types, but unsupported types are rejected.
