How it works
Slack keeps team conversations in channels and direct messages. Connect it to share updates from your business system, such as a new booking or an approval request. App visitors use the workspace you connect without connecting their own Slack accounts. By connecting Slack, you can:- Post to accessible public and private channels
- Send direct messages to people in the workspace
- Reply in threads and add reactions
- Read recent messages from accessible channels
- Upload and share files
- Look up channels and people
How to integrate Slack into your app

Connect to Slack
Ask Zite to connect to Slack, or select + → Integrations → Slack. Choose a saved account or Connect new account.Sign in to Slack, select the workspace, and approve the requested access. If Slack requires administrator approval, ask your Slack administrator to review the connection request.

Describe your use case
Tell Zite when to send a message, where it should go, and what it should contain. For example, “Post new support requests to our support channel with a link to the request.”Name the channel or person explicitly. Zite can look up the destination, so you can choose it in chat after connecting.

Test and publish
Trigger the action with a sample record and check the intended channel or direct message. Check the text, links, and any files, including that recipients can open the linked app.Select Publish in the upper-right corner when the message works as expected.
Common use cases
With a Slack connection, you can create apps like:- Booking Alerts: Notify the team when a customer books
- Approval Requests: Send a record link to its reviewer
- Support Intake: Post new requests in the support channel
- Team Summaries: Share scheduled project or sales updates
- Task Notifications: Message the person assigned to a task
Important notes
- Private channels: Invite the connected Zite app to a private channel before it can find, read, or post there. Zite can join public channels.
- Message sender: Messages come from the connected app in Slack, not your personal account. A custom name and icon require the appropriate Slack access.
- Missing destinations: Check the connected workspace and channel membership. New connections choose destinations through chat; older apps may still have a saved channel setting.
- Permissions: If a needed action is unavailable, reconnect to approve the required access. Slack workspace policies may require administrator approval.
- Preview sends: Testing can post real Slack messages. Use a test channel or a direct message to yourself, and check formatting in Slack before enabling notifications.
