Overview

Internal apps are for people in your Zite organization. Common examples include admin dashboards, team tools, review queues, and operations panels. Members use their existing Zite accounts, so there is no public sign-up flow to configure. To give someone outside your organization access, first share the app externally.

Who can open an internal app

Internal apps can be opened by:
  • Organization admins — always, for every app
  • Editors — can create, edit, and view the database and every app in the workspace
  • Internal app members — people in your Zite organization with Use Access to that app
  • Members of a group — when the group has Edit access to the app or its workspace
Admins and editors have broader access across the workspace. Use Access applies only to the selected internal app.

Give someone Use Access

1

Open Users

From the workspace, click the Users button to the left of the workspace selector.
2

Select the internal app

Under Internal apps, select the app whose members you want to manage.
3

Invite a member

Click Invite and add the person who needs Use Access to the app.
Use Access applies to the selected app. The person remains an app member, while access to other apps stays unchanged. Add them from the Editors view if they need to build apps or work with the database.

Review or remove app members

Open Users and select an internal app to see its members. Search by name or email address, or use Filter to narrow the list. Any access changes made here apply to the selected app. Removing a member leaves their organization account and access to other apps alone. Editors keep access to every app in the workspace. Manage them from the Editors view.

Test as an app member

Internal apps sign you in as yourself. When you need to check what another member sees, use Preview as user in the preview toolbar. You can test their view without signing out of Zite.

Make an internal app external

When people outside your organization need the app, share it externally and set up authentication. People who sign up are listed as external users under that app in the Users area.

FAQs

Not while the app is internal. Share it externally, then configure its authentication settings so people outside your organization can sign up or be invited.
Internal app members use their existing Zite account. If you need a branded sign-in screen, magic links, Google sign-in, or access for people outside your organization, share the app externally and configure authentication.
