Plan helps you decide what to build before Zite changes your app. It asks questions and creates a plan you can review and refine, with screen sketches and proposed data details.

When to use Plan mode

  • Start a new system: Agree how a client portal, CRM, or job tracker should work.
  • Scope a bigger change: Work through several screens, approvals, or connected tools.
  • Get feedback first: Share the proposed scope with teammates or a client.
Planning and refinements use AI credits. Plan uses Zite Max, or Zite Max Fast if you’ve selected it.

Create a plan

Choose Plan

Select the current mode below the chat box, then choose Plan. When starting from home, you can turn on Plan first instead.

Choose Plan to work through the direction before building.

Describe the business process

Explain who will use it, what they need to do, which data to use, and who can see or change it. For example:
Plan a job tracker for our operations team using our existing Airtable data. Staff update their assigned jobs; managers review completed work. Keep the existing records and agree the approval process before building.
Answer Zite’s questions so the plan reflects your requirements.

Review the proposed system

Check the plan before moving on:
  • Screens: Can people complete the main tasks? Screen sketches show structure, not the finished design.
  • Data: Are the tables, fields, and existing data sources right?
  • Access: Does each person see and change only what they should?
  • Workflows: What happens next, and who needs to approve or act?

Refine the plan

  • One section: Select its pencil icon to open Refine this section, then describe the change.
  • The whole plan: Ask in the main chat, such as “Add a manager approval step before a job is marked complete.”
Review the updated plan before building. Planning helps catch missing requirements; you still need to test the finished system.

Plan with your real data

Name the tool and data you want to use. Zite can ask you to connect an integration during planning so it can inspect the available information. Accepting a connection saves it to your workspace immediately. It remains connected even if you don’t build the plan.

Download a plan PDF

Select Download plan as PDF at the top of the finished plan to share it with a teammate or client.

Build the plan

When the plan is ready, select Build plan. Answer any outstanding questions and wait for plan edits to finish if the button is unavailable.
Build plan starts an Auto-mode build, even if you previously chose Build. Auto applies most changes without approval stops. Your saved Auto or Build preference isn’t changed.
Test the main tasks and access rules once the build finishes. For later changes, choose Build mode if you want more approval checkpoints.
